Contamination of baby milk with salmonella at a Lactalis factory was an accident and the dairy group took the necessary steps to prevent more babies falling ill.
Lactalis is testing production at its Craon plant that had been halted because dozens of babies were found ill last year after drinking salmonella-contaminated milk.
Lactalis will pay damages to families affected by a Salmonella contamination at one of its plants producing baby milk, the company’s Chief Executive Besnier told.
Lactalis is to widen a product recall to cover all baby milk manufactured at its Craon factory in northwest France, after a salmonella contamination, FM Le Maire said.
France’s supermarket chains said they sold some Lactalis baby food products after a recall by the dairy giant over concerns they could be contaminated with salmonella.
