The move will enable the government to roll out panic button facility on mobile phones, aimed at helping women in distress.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched the 'Shakti' app, which comes with a panic button, for women's safety.
Swati Maliwal met Ram Nath Kovind and briefed him on issues related to women safety and the growing menace of illegal drugs and liquor being sold in the capital.
The Aam Aadmi Party said that the odd-even scheme cannot be implemented without exceptions and the safety of women cannot be risked.
"It has location updation feature as well, which allows the RPF Control Center to view the commuter's updated locations until she reaches at a safe destination."
The direction was issued by Baijal at the meeting of Task Force on Women Safety, held at Raj Niwas here.
US dollar ends higher against rupee
