The 15-day-old H D Kumaraswamy ministry in Karnataka was expanded today with the induction of 25 ministers.
A fortnight after becoming Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy will expand his two-member cabinet tomorrow after days of hard bargaining between the ruling coalition partners, JDS and Congress.
Kumaraswamy said that the expansion of his two-member Congress-JD(S) ministry is likely to take place on June 4 or 5.
The Dalit face of the Congress in Karnataka and its state unit chief G Parameshwara has finally made it to the deputy chief minister's post, for which he has been a contender for too long.
"I will be the king and not the kingmaker," H D Kumaraswamy had said in the run up to the Karnataka polls.
H D Kumaraswamy was today sworn in as the Karnataka chief minister at the head of a JD (S)-Congress coalition government.
Shiv Sena said the BJP's attempt to save the B S Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka was not the way to make the country "Congress-free".
Akhilesh Yadav termed the collapse of the three-day-old B S Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka a "victory of the people's mandate" and asked the central government to resign on moral grounds.
The BJP admitted that its Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa resigned as his government did not have the numbers for simple majority to win the trust vote in a hung Assembly.
PM Modi’s BJP walked away from a court-mandated test to prove it had the support of a majority of lawmakers to govern Karnataka, after an election a week ago threw up no clear winner.
